Haemostasis Range

HAEMOWAX™ — Sterile Surgical Bone Wax 2.5g

HAEMOWAX™ is a specially prepared, sterile mechanical haemostatic agent manufactured by Unisur Lifecare Pvt. Ltd. (Universal Sutures) in Bengaluru, India. Composed of high-grade natural beeswax, purified hard paraffin wax, and isopropyl palmitate as a wax-softening agent, HAEMOWAX is opaque and exhibits a characteristic waxy odour.

Engineered for instant intra-operative bleeding control from damaged or cut bone surfaces, HAEMOWAX acts as a physical barrier (tamponade) to block exposed cancellous bone channels. It is bio-chemically inert, non-irritating to tissue, and terminally sterilised by validated Gamma Radiation cycles for maximum patient safety in demanding surgical environments.

  • Optimal Pliability: Softens rapidly when warmed between fingers for seamless application onto cancellous bone tissue.
  • Immediate Tamponade: Achieves instant mechanical haemostasis across sternal, cranial, and orthopaedic bone cuts.
  • Rigorous Sterilisation: Terminally sterilised by Gamma Radiation for complete microbial safety and 5-year shelf-life stability.

Surgical Applications

Clinical Indications & Surgical Use Cases

HAEMOWAX is indicated for the control of oozing bleeding from cut or exposed bone surfaces across diverse surgical specialties.

Thoracic & Cardiac Surgery

Crucial for controlling sternal bone marrow bleeding following median sternotomy during open-heart and coronary bypass procedures.

Orthopaedic Surgery

Effective tamponade for bleeding bone margins during joint replacements (hip, knee arthroplasty), osteotomies, and complex fracture fixation.

Neurosurgery & Spine

Applied to cranial burr holes, craniotomy edges, and laminectomy surfaces to rapidly halt epidural and diploic vein oozing.

Maxillofacial & Oral

Provides reliable haemostasis during mandibular/maxillary resections, facial trauma reconstructions, and dental bone graft preparations.

Surgical Bone Wax Sourcing & Usage

HAEMOWAX is a sterile mixture of medical-grade natural beeswax, hard paraffin wax, and isopropyl palmitate. Isopropyl palmitate acts as a softening agent to optimize handling and malleability when warmed between the surgeon’s gloved fingers prior to application.

Bone wax provides mechanical haemostasis via a physical barrier (tamponade). When smeared over bleeding cancellous bone cut surfaces, it physically plugs open vascular channels and bone marrow spaces, instantly arresting microvascular oozing.

HAEMOWAX is terminally sterilised by Gamma Radiation (Cobalt-60). Foil packets should be opened immediately prior to surgical use in sterile conditions. Store in a cool, dry place below 25°C away from direct heat to maintain optimal structural integrity over its 5-year shelf life.

Yes. As an ISO 13485 certified manufacturer, we provide complete technical documentation, Certificate of Analysis (CoA), sterility validation reports, and dossier support for regulatory registration across Europe, Latin America, Middle East, Africa, and Asia-Pacific regions.
