We manufacture a complete spectrum of synthetic and natural absorbable sutures including Polyglycolic Acid (PGA), PGA Fast, Polyglactin 910 (PGLA), PGLA Fast, Polydioxanone (PDS monofilament), Poliglecaprone 25 (PGCL monofilament), Plain Catgut, and Chromic Catgut.

Synthetic absorbable sutures (PGA, PGLA, PDS, PGCL) degrade via hydrolysis, providing predictable tensile strength retention and minimal tissue reaction. Natural catgut sutures degrade via enzymatic digestion and are primarily indicated for rapidly healing vascular or mucosal tissues.

All absorbable suture-needle combinations from Universal Sutures are engineered and tested to exceed USP and Ph. Eur. standards by at least 1.1 times in tensile strength and needle-attachment pull strength.

All absorbable sutures are sealed in hermetic aluminium foil packs with primary moisture barriers and terminally sterilised using validated Ethylene Oxide (EO) gas cycles. Synthetic absorbable sutures have a shelf life of 5 years, while catgut sutures carry a 3 to 5 year shelf life depending on pack formulation.
